A prototype for London's Big Ben
A prototype produced ahead of the construction of the Big Ben Clock Tower (completed in 1859). The weight-driven double three legged gravity escapement keeps exact time in any weather conditions including strong wind, change in temperature and humidity and swung its pendulum isochronally over a smaller arc. The error was dramatically reduced to no more than one second per day.
