Miniature of the World's First Escapement Clock
A 12-meter-high astronomical observation clock equipped with a water-powered wheel-type escapement. Constructed in 1092 during the Northern Sung Dynasty. A machine built inside integrates the astronomical observation instrument with the clock tower structure. Time management and astronomical observations were important missions ordered by the Emperor and his government. Both were key steps for making an accurate calendar.
